Fuzzy Dice News
Welcome to - Vol. III, Issue 4 - October 29, 2011

   Happy Halloween Rock & Rollers!

Ohhh, it’s really scary, the length of time since you’ve heard from me, I know. And my sincere apology. While I can’t report the completion of Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs who ROCKED Your World! 1954~1979, it does progress weekly. Thank you for your patience, and in the meantime …

I do have BIG Blast from Your Past news for the Holidays and hope you’ll enjoy the moment … again … and think about BFYP for your favorite Boomer on your Holiday gift list.

What’s inside your Fuzzy Dice News:

1.       ~  big news for BFYP … the First Five Years 1954~1959—PRINT EDITION!
~ yours truly on the air--talkin' 'bout the good ol' days!
~ have buddies on the air somewhere? Let's talk!
~ LR's posts of featured airchecks from ReelRadio.com on Facebook

~ update on the BFYP 25-year edition, 1954~ 1979

As you know, in April I published the no-frills ebook edition of Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs: the First Five Years 1954~1959. Wellllll …

1.     ~ a print edition of … the First Five Years is currently in production and will be available in time for Holiday gift-giving, approximately Nov. 18th! (Infinity Publishing/BuyBooksOnTheWeb.com)

a.      print edition is $11.95, approx. 144 pages—updated with new text and improved formatting since the email edition was made available (it too, will be updated soon)

b.     pre-orders for signed copies w/FREE shipping available now—scheduled for shipping by Dec. 12th

                                                    i.     send quantity, check or money order w/shipping address, email, & phone # to (soon to be available on the BFYP website via PayPal; and BuyBooksOnTheWeb.com):

LinDee Rochelle
5663 Balboa Avenue, Ste. 383
San Diego  CA  92111

 2.     I placed a one-time test ad 10/20/11 with Steve Harrison’s Radio-TV Interview Report  (scroll to #3) and received four internet / terrestrial radio interviews (thank you, John @ RTIR!):

a.      in these interviews we covered not only 1954~1959, but also BFYP DJs in the ‘60s & ‘70s

b.     1st interview 10/22/11 is archived at KHZ/Annapolis MD – Maryland Matters w/Mark Schlottman “Metro” (fyi, I was not advised we were taping from the moment I called in … so please excuse a couple of off-the-wall “early a.m.” comments-heehee)

c.      2nd interview was taped 10/24/11 w/Michael Cerio for WPHT/Philadelphia (a CBSRadio.com station)—will notify you of air date

d.     3rd interview to be taped Tue. 11/01/11 w/Doug Miles’ Book Talk for local radio and podcast, Sarasota FL—will notify you of air date

                                                    i.     btw, he’s a former NY DJ—so we’ll be talking about NY-BFYP DJs!

e.      4th interview will be live Wed. 11/02/11 on The Rude Awakening Show, hosted by Bulldog at 7:40AM on WOCM-FM 98.1, Ocean City MD—should be a hoot!

                                                     i.     please listen and tell your friends—if not in range, listen streaming, online/iphone, etc.! On Air Hotline: 410-723-9626

ii.     you MUST visit the WOCM-FM website—then read this news release for their 23rd anniversary in June that reports in part: “The flagship Seacrets location boasts 18 bars, six entertainment stages, a hotel, its own radio station, a night club and indoor and outdoor dining areas.” My kinda station!

iii.     note: 7:40AM-ET is 4:40AM on the West Coast! The things I do for this book … J

3.     so as you see, I’m marketing … the First Five Years to give it its due for the Holidays—I need your help. If you or someone you know is in the radio biz or TV—please spread the word—I am available for interviews—LinDee@BlastFromYourPast.net, 858-292-5288, and:

a.      your station / podcast / archive link will be featured on the BFYP website

                                                    i.     an e-blast and social networking posts will be made prior to airing

ii.     topics of discussion include (and more):

1.      radio then vs. now

2.      First Five Years15 DJs (w/Wolfman Jack) & 1 band (Jay & Americans)

3.      25-yr edition – 26 more DJs + 2 more bands = TOTAL 44 stories (41 DJs/3bands)

4.      crazy antics of Radio DJs

5.      Rock & Roll in its infancy

6.      the connection listeners had with their favorite DJs

4.     LR’s posts of featured airchecks from ReelRadio.com on Facebook—relive some of yesteryear!

a.      the last aircheck was posted 10/14/11—because I was working on the 5-year print edition—but have received many comments from Friends enjoying the posts

b.     I will be reinstating the aircheck posts this Mon., 10/31/11—they appear Mon.-Fri.; with Mon. featuring the 1950s, Tue. & Wed. the 1960s, Thu. 1970s, & Fri. 1980s

c.      I’ve archived them on the BFYP website, too (although that also needs updating)

d.     not yet a member of ReelRadio.com? (“Uncle Ricky” has a modest annual “listening” fee of $20 for his nonprofit aircheck museum.) You should be … they’re priceless!

5.     BFYP featured links:

a.      Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel, www.TrueOldiesChannel.com

b.     Truly fun Boomer site: The Boomer and the Babe—www.boomerandthebabe.com/

c.      some of these fun radio commercials will definitely have you trippin’ down Memory Lane! www.oldtimeradiofans.com/old_radio_commercials/

6.     And last but not least … the official update on Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs who ROCKED Your World! 1954~1979, Vol. I

a.      trust me, you can’t beat me up over this any more than I already have, myself J; however, perhaps it’s all for the best to publish BFYP … the First Five Years as an early promotional tool to get you-all Rockin’ & Rollin’ and dancing to the beat

b.     there is still much to be done, but the stories are coming together nicely; we will be in the throes of editing the DJs’ stories and in print, before you know it

c.      look for excerpts on www.BlastFromYourPast.net VERY soon, as I continue to market the 5-year edition

I know this is an incredibly long newsletter, but you deserve it (if you can wade through it!). Feel free to comment, ask questions, or otherwise let me know what you think about the Fuzzy Dice News and/or any of the Blast from Your Past! items.

Have a Fun, Spooky Halloween, and Rock on!
