Vol. II, No. 2, July 19, 2010 - Rock & Roll Radio Friends

Hello Rock & Roll Radio Fans!

Did you think I’d forgotten you? Not a chance! In fact, I’m practically ignoring everyone in my life (as some of you know) while I squirrel away in my cave to finish Blast from Your Past - and lovin' every second of it.

It isn’t soup yet, but definitely bubbling nicely—great aroma! I have some surprises in my apron pocket—sorry, no amount of begging will make me tell you … well maybe just a hint; this book will have the best opportunities to shine and if you do a little roaming on the BFYP updated website, you'll find a nugget or two.

You'll also find excerpts and a couple of little Rock & Roll news tidbits ... as much as I could throw together quickly - and then bury myself in BFYP again. (BlastFromYourPast.net/notes-blastfromyourpast.html)

And notice the "new and improved" cover - it's getting there! Still a little more tweaking to do, but I'm likin' it. Hope you do too.

FYI, the book explores the DJs' stories on a chronological basis, by decade: 1954-1959; 1960-1969; 1970-1979. One of the reasons it's taken so long is that I have to split up their stories in order to follow the timeline - those who began in the Fifties are discussed first, then I began picking up the Sixties' DJs in random order according to the book's flow, and re-working in those who floated from the Fifties into the Sixties. Ditto for the Seventies. Not the easiest way to write the book, but infinitely more interesting for you, the reader (I hope), than simply putting together disjointed accounts of their escapades.

Now I need your help! Please see the items below and respond if you can - feel free to pass on to your network and especially DJs or others in the "vintage" radio industry.

- need to know name of West Coast DJ (and station ID) who played Jay & The Americans' "She Cried" for 6 hrs. (?) straight, locked in his studio; would have been in 1962 (I believe)

- see attached 1958 photo of a WNEW-NY DJ with actor, Tommy Sands - can you ID the DJ for me? CONTEST! Whoever submits the correct answer first will receive a free copy of BFYP on publication
(LR Note: DJ identified as Art Ford! Thank you, radio listener, Steven Sizer, and Cousin Brucie!)

I promise not to be so long with the next update - there will be at least one more before the notice that the "soup's ready!" And - we will be ready to roll with marketing for the Holidays. So be prepared! Thank you for your interest in Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs who ROCKED Your World!

Rockin' on,
